The Great Return

Color me delighted: I planned to sit down this week and write my first confessions post in ages, knowing that whether or not there's a home for the linkup, blogland knows that on Wednesdays we confess. And then I find out the resurrection is here! Thanks to everyone's favorite Indie gal Sarah at Plucky in Love, the confessions train is back in action. Let's get to it.
I went and got myself an adult coloring book and, you guys, I am addicted to it. I honestly spend at least a few minutes with it every single day. It's definitely a better alternative for fidgety hands than browsing Reddit or double-tapping all over Instagram when I'm supposed to be paying attention to something else. I toss on a show, podcast, or audiobook and go to town, and my mind stays put exactly where I want it to be. Ahhh.

I have posts up two days in a row this week for the first time in months. And it's only because I messed up my dates and thought last Tuesday was Show Us Your Books so I've had that post all ready to go since last Monday. My blog game lately = weak.

I posted this pretty picture of gourds on Sunday that I snapped while pumpkin picking with Jenn, Michael, and Dani. Only posted it because my current Instagram photo count was at 666 and obviously awful things were going to happen if I let that stay there.

This past weekend was so perfectly fall. Pumpkin patch, winery visit and tasting, Oktoberfest and fall harvest festival with my favorite family, and plenty of rounds with friends. But the low point is easy to find: while doing all this fall-ing outside, I suffered an injury... a massive bug bite right on my butt.

I want to talk to you guys about a real problem I'm having right now. See, for years, I've had friends who were involved in this little habit, and it was never appealing to me and so easy to Just Say No. But then one very persuasive friend got in my ear right as I was about to begin a bout of funemployment, and I caved. Friends, I am obsessed with Pretty Little Liars and am binge-watching my way through every episode available on Netflix. Four complete seasons in two weeks. Of Pretty Little Liars. An ABC Family show about 16-year-olds. I'm 26. But really though, WHO IS A?! (No spoilers, yo.)

I want to write a confession about one of the biggest things in my life right now: the impending marathon, which is under three weeks away. But I feel like anything I say on the topic might come out as gibberish since I can't really wrap my mind around complete thoughts given my state of panic and fear and exhilaration over the nearness of race day. I think I can sum it up like this though: Taper madness is a real thing, and I'm likely to lose my mind completely before November 1. Don't say you haven't been warned. (Can someone please just help me figure out what to wear for the race?)

  6. Haha I just got my first adult coloring book last week! I was planning to wait until after the race but around this time last week I was flipping out and Ben made me go get one early so I would calm down. It worked. I've also been teaching myself to crochet.

PLL is the train wreck I can't look away from. I spend at least half of every episode wondering what's going on (because a million plot lines, who can keep up?) and why I even care.

Just bring all your running clothes. Problem solved!

  7. Ahh! I missed that confessions are back on! Hooray, Sarah!

It sounds like you're doing Funemployment Round #2 the right way! 2 More confessions before marathon, you'll have time to put your thoughts into words, my lady.

  8. I hate that I still watch PLL. I'm so ready for it to be over and now I'm so invested in it that I have to keep watching it! I recommend you wear something for the marathon that you've worn while you trained, a trusted favorite.

  18. Your coloring book looks awesome! I totally just use kiddy coloring books/crayons on occasion haha, but maybe I'd look cooler if I had a legit one like yours?! ;)I haven't watched PLL at all, but my current guilty pleasure is that stupid secret life of the american teenager. I'm 28, they are like 15-16. Judge me.

  20. I always feel like a dumba$$ when I'm in a dither and can't find a way to write about something. But that in itself imparts how massive whatever that thing is in your life. The heat is on to marathon! How exciting!

  21. Hahaha that's how I feel about watching Gossip Girl, but I just get so sucked in and can't stop! Ahh I can't believe you are so close to your marathon! I'm so excited for you!

  22. Please don't feel ashamed about your Pretty Little Liars addiction. I'm 31 and I am (no joke) watching it all the way through on Netflix AGAIN for the 5th time. My husband teases me about it, but what can I say? I really love that show. My (male) best friend (age 32) is also obsessed with it. So again, don't be too embarrassed. :-)

  23. I want to get one of those coloring books so bad! I love coloring and I love how intricate the coloring books are -- you actually have to concentrate. I was even at the bookstore yesterday and I picked one up three different times and set it down. Ugh. I should have got it.
