What's Happening!

What's New With You
When your life is almost in shambles (it's not...quite. Yet.) there's really no better time to write a post all about the minutiae of your life, right? Right.

writing >> cover letters, again, and still. Emails to potential Bad Yogi Blog contributors. (Are you interested!?) Bad Yogi Blog posts. A plan—and then erasing it and starting from scratch every time the wind blows again.

eating >> the chicken parm I made the other night for the first time in YEARS. (The classics never go out of style.) Chips and guac in my endless search for the best guac I can buy in stores (because way too lazy to make it at home every time I crave it. Can Chipotle just start selling their guac in grocery stores please?)

burning >> this random sage + melon candle I got at TJMaxx last year for like $4 and is really nice for breaking out of the winter scents scene.

watching >> Glee, because. Also feeling a renewed love for home improvement shows and grateful Netflix has Fixer Upper and House Hunters Renovation on there.

loving >> teaching my Sunday yoga class. Subbing classes whenever I can. My YTT ladies and everyone else at the studio, who make our studio seriously the best around—from teachers to clients. The fact that it's light enough to see anything at all outside my window until 6 p.m. That I finally figured out how to use Snapchat lenses. The 70ยบ day predicted for next week.

wearing >> this. Seriously, pretty much every day since I bought it last year. Sound investment. Also leggings every single day because the lack of structured pants as a daily need is the best part of my current employment status.

reading >> The Casual Vacancy, which I started ages ago and am enjoying, but not enough to truck through. A little bit at a time. Also a romance novel for the first time in my life, because one of my Feather Magazine writers interviewed the best-selling author for an upcoming article on feminism and romance novels, and editing the story inspired me to check her books out. I can't wait to share when it's published!

avoiding >> thinking about the realities and implications of my current employment status. For like 5 minutes of freedom, and then obsessing about it to the point where I'm back to barely sleeping at night. And then avoiding thinking about it. And round and round we go.

remembering >> my grandmother, on what would have been her 90th birthday today. <3

anticipating >> my 27th birthday on the 29th. An upcoming trip to DC with people I love. Daylight Savings Time. Saint Paddy's Day celebrations and festivities. My YTT group's Karma Class and graduation night. A celebratory dinner with those same lovely ladies.

hoping >> that the universe is hearing me, and that everything I'm doing—which is everything I know of that I can do—to make good things happen is going to lead to good things. Eventually.

Linking up with Kristen & Gretchen. What's new with you?

  1. leggings FTW! i wear them practically the whole winter because they're comfortable and fu*k real pants.

  2. Yes to leggings. Most mornings I wear my work out capris with sweats over them because it's too cold for just the capris, but I don't want to change when I get home from dropping my daughter off at preschool, and full out leggings are to hot to workout in when I'm inside. The struggle is real!

hugs for you and your grandmother <3
maybe you should get a part time job at chipotle for like 2 minutes, steal the recipe or like a huge tub of guac and then quit? no? haha. good luck on that search and thank yooooooou for linking up with us :)

  4. LOL I love Kristen's idea to work at Chipotle for 2 minutes, snag the recipe and bail. Reading Alyssa minutiae is a personal favorite topic of mine, keep these coming even without certain and probable turmoil ahead. You're resilient <3

  5. Chicken parm is my absolute favorite. I make a whole bunch and then freeze half of it. And now I want some. When are you going to DC? I'm stopping there on St. Pattys Day, en route to VA. I'm sure the universe is hearing you- you'll get through this!

  6. I've discovered that maximum compression leggings from fabletics were the best investment I've ever made in my life. And as soon as that hoodie comes out in black, I will find ways to get dollars together and will wear it constantly. Also, please come visit me and de-stress and watch renovation shows with me and we can run around Raleigh (literally and figuratively) so they universe can have time to work everything out for you :)

  7. I bought a beach-scented candle recently...I usually don't like scents like that but I was so desperate to get out of winter jail that I wouldn't help it :/
Love to you on your grandmother's birthday!
You do have so many great things to look forward to soon and I can't wait to see you in DC <3 The universe has something really good and really big up its sleeve for you, I just know it! I know that's not helpful (because it hasn't been the 50 million times Ben has told me that in the last few months) but it's true. It just has to be. You are too smart and hard-working and amazing for there to not be an opportunity out there just waiting for the timing to be right.

  8. We can talk forever about the home shows on Netflix because I'm obsessed too. I would also recommend Genevieve's Renovation (or any show that she's on) because I'm obsessed with her ever since her Trader Spaces years! Thanks for linking up with Kristen and me!!

  9. The universe is hearing you. Keep talking.

Love that we are both March babies, and our grandmothers were too (and my Mom Mom - great grandmom).

A solid hoodie is key to life. I love my Life is Good hoodies.

  11. Oooh I've never seen the One Bad Yogi site! I like it! If you need help with cover letters, let me know! I'm a grant writer so my job is to basically write cover letters all day every day! I'd be happy to help! I'm actually in the process of creating a career series on my blog where I'll offer help on resumes/cover/letters/salary negotiation/etc.!

I hope we can meet up when you're in DC!

  12. I make chicken parm A LOT. I have also been on a huge guac and chips kick. Not sure why. Probably because all things avocado are delicious.

  13. I love netflix! I'm finishing up Fuller House. After that, I'm gonna finish watching Graceland.

  14. Me and the universe have your back! And I'm working on that playlist part II for Bad Yogi. I'll brainstorm some more ideas too. Really though, try not to lose too much sleep. You're gonna find something great and I can't wait to see what it is. xoxo

  15. Yesss, I started burning a more spring-y candle too and it's such a nice change! I think I say this every time you mention it, but I still need to read The Casual Vacancy. I feel you so much on your avoiding situation because my response would have been something all too similar. I know the universe is hearing you though and good things are coming your way very soon!

  16. 27... geez!! I had no idea we were that far apart! Ok, it's not far at all, but still. Catch up!!

  17. I too am grateful for Netflix having Fixer Upper and House Hunters!!! I get my fixes in when my husband isn't around hahaha. Chips and guac are always on my mind. Chicken parm sounds yummy!!! I watched them make the table side stuff at babalu today at lunch and I really feel like I might could master it.

  18. I'd eat chicken parm all day, err' day. I bet teaching sunday yoga is super relaxing!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I want Netflix to get more Fixer Upper episodes!!! I have yet to find a guac that tastes good and fresh and is sold in stores. I usually make it myself at least once a week. I need to start burning my spring candle, I just got way too excited about the thought of that!

  20. I always struggle so much trying to write cover letters, good luck! I know you will stumble across the perfect thing soon ♥ I have so many Netflix shows that I am so behind on. It is ridiculous! I need to spend some time relaxing and watching Netflix :) I have yet to read Casual Vacancy, but it is on my shelf to read!
